Hanukkah 2026 begins at sundown on Friday, December 4, and ends the evening of Saturday, December 12. Eight nights is a lot of gift-giving, and eight nights is also a lot of dinners, so this guide groups eight in-stock bottles by how they work during the holiday: something sparkling for the first night, something sweet for dessert, something red for the table and something warm for the long evenings. Live prices run from $15.99 to $49.99. A note on kosher: our catalog does not tell us the kosher status of any of these bottles, so if you need a certified product, check the label for the certification symbol before you buy or ask your rabbi. Every order needs an adult 21 or older to sign.

The 8 bottles in this guide

Sparkling and sweet for the table

Rischio Reale Prosecco ($15.99) is an Italian sparkler priced low enough to open on the first night and keep a second bottle for the weekend. It pairs well with latkes, since the bubbles cut through the oil the way they do with fried food in general. For something sweeter, Bartenura Moscato ($18.99) is a light, low-alcohol Italian Moscato with peach and orange blossom, so it suits dessert, sufganiyot and guests who prefer sweet wine. More bubbly is in our sparkling wine collection, the champagne collection and the Moscato collection, and our Christmas sparkling wine gift guide covers the higher shelf.

A red for brisket

Brisket is the centerpiece of many Hanukkah dinners, and it likes a medium-bodied red with some acidity. Querceto Chianti Classico ($16.99) is a Sangiovese-based Tuscan red with cherry and herbal notes, and the acidity keeps rich meat from feeling heavy. Browse the Chianti collection and the red wine collection, or see our Christmas wine gift guide for fuller reds. For a table plan, our holiday party quantity guide shows how many bottles to buy for 10, 25 or 50 guests.

Small gifts for the eight nights

If you give a small gift each night, minis are practical. Paddy’s Irish Whiskey 10 x 50ml ($18.99) has ten bottles in the pack, enough for eight nights plus two to spare, and works out to about $1.90 a bottle. It is a smooth Irish blend, so it is easy to give to someone who does not usually drink whiskey. See the Irish whiskey collection, and read our 50ml minis pricing study to see whether minis are the best value. Knob Creek 9 Year Bourbon 375ml ($26.99) is a half-size, 100 proof bourbon that suits a single gift.

Scotch for the long evenings

Hanukkah falls in December, which is the right time for Scotch by a fire. Johnnie Walker Black Label ($37.99) is a blended Scotch with a gentle smoke and dried fruit, and it is a safe choice for a host. Glen Turner Master Reserve 12 Year ($39.99) is a 12-year-old single malt that offers more depth for a modest step up in price. Auchentoshan 12 Year ($49.99) is a Lowland single malt known for its triple distillation, so it tends to taste light, citrusy and soft. Browse the Scotch collection and the Auchentoshan collection, then read our Christmas Scotch gift guide.

How to plan the eight nights

You do not need eight different bottles. One way to plan: open the Prosecco on the first night, share the Chianti at the big family dinner, put the Moscato out with dessert, and give the minis and the 375ml as small gifts. Keep the Scotch for the Saturday night that ends the holiday, or as a host gift for the party you attend. If you are giving at work, our corporate gifting guide explains how to stay within office rules. For a smaller exchange, our stocking stuffer and Secret Santa guide lists gifts under $30.

A few serving tips

Chill the Prosecco for about four hours and the Moscato for two, and open the Chianti about thirty minutes before dinner. Serve Scotch at room temperature in a small glass with a little water on the side. If you would like a warm drink after dinner, add a spoon of honey and a lemon slice to Johnnie Walker Black Label with hot water, following the method in our hot toddy guide. For party cocktails, our New Year’s Eve champagne cocktail guide works for any sparkling night.

Hosting a Hanukkah dinner

If you are hosting, count on one bottle of wine for every two to three guests at dinner, plus a bottle of sparkling wine for the toast. Latkes, brisket, roasted vegetables and a dessert table are all rich foods, so choose wines with acidity and keep the alcohol moderate. A bright Prosecco, a Tuscan red and a sweet Moscato cover almost every course, and a small bottle of whiskey or Scotch gives guests a quiet drink once the candles have burned down. Offer sparkling water and non-alcoholic options too, so everyone has something to raise in the toast.

Gift etiquette for a Hanukkah party

If you are a guest, bring a bottle that the host can open now or save for later, and write a short note. A nicely wrapped bottle such as Johnnie Walker Black Label or a bottle of Chianti is a safe host gift, and a half-size bourbon is a good extra for a family member. Do not assume anyone drinks, and do not choose a bottle that needs a special occasion. If you are giving to a child’s parents or to a mixed group, a sparkling wine or a gift box of mini bottles is easy to share. As always, please do not drink and drive, and keep alcohol away from anyone under 21.

When to order

December is the busiest shipping month of the year, and the holiday begins on December 4, so order by Thanksgiving week at the latest.
