Partida Reposado Roble Fino Tequila is a reposado finished in sherry-seasoned Scotch single-malt casks — Partida's "single malt of tequila" — and a natural crossover pour for the whisky drinker curious about aged agave.

Process & Profile

Bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV), the Roble Fino Reposado rests roughly six months in ex-bourbon barrels before a two-month finish in sherry-seasoned oak that once held Scotch single malt — casks sourced from Edrington, the house behind Macallan and Highland Park. The idea came to Master Tequilero José Valdez, who runs NOM 1502, on a trip to Scotland, where he set out to marry tequila with the finishing traditions of Scotch. Underneath it all is Partida's estate-grown blue Weber agave from the volcanic soils of the Tequila Valley in Jalisco, cooked and twice distilled before it ever meets oak.

On the nose, cooked agave leads into warm vanilla, caramel, quince and a drift of toasted oak.

On the palate, sherried richness takes over: dried dates, golden raisin, maple syrup, candied ginger and a touch of black pepper.

The finish is long and creamy, caramel and dried fruit lingering with a whisky-like warmth.

Where Partida's Blanco and standard Reposado show the agave straight, the Roble Fino is defined by that sherry-cask finish — the clearest expression of Valdez's Scotland-inspired program and what pulls it toward single-malt territory.

Serve neat or over a large cube in a rocks glass; it stands in beautifully anywhere you would reach for an aged sipping spirit.
