Naud Cognac VSOP (750ml) is a Gold-medal VSOP from Famille Naud, a small family estate in Pons that blends across three Charente crus — a fruit-driven, characterful cognac for the drinker who wants estate personality over a big négociant label.

Process & Profile

The blend draws on Fins Bois, Bons Bois, and Petite Champagne (roughly 30%), double-distilled on direct-flame copper pot stills and aged a minimum of four years in oak. Before bottling, older eaux-de-vie of ten to fifteen years are married in to add length and complexity. The house traces to a 1923 distillery revived in the 1980s by trained oenologist Jean-Michel Naud and his son Pierre, who rebuilt it into one of the few Charente family estates also distilling vodka and gin. This bottling took Gold at the 2022 Cognac Masters.

On the nose, candied orange peel, dried apricot, vanilla, and a dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg.

On the palate, supple and round, with ripe peach, orange, honey, and a light spine of oak.

The finish is medium and gently spiced, closing on oak and dried fruit.

What sets it apart within the range is that use of ten-to-fifteen-year eaux-de-vie to lift a four-year VSOP above its age class — the reason it drinks richer than its modest price and earned that 2022 Gold. The house bottles it at the standard 40% ABV (80 proof).

Serve neat or over one large cube in a tulip glass; it pairs naturally with dark chocolate or an orange-forward dessert.
