Bottled at 55.3% ABV (110.6 proof) with no age statement, Elements 3.0 is fully matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and distilled at Laphroaig's distillery on Islay's south coast, where the brand still malts a portion of its own barley on traditional floor maltings modernized by Ian Hunter in the early 20th century. Rather than scrap the fire-affected batch, head whisky maker Sara Dowling and distillery manager George Campbell ran it through anyway — the third release in Laphroaig's experimental Elements series, following a 2024 Whisky Advocate Whisky of the Year win for Elements 2.0. The distillery itself dates to 1815, when brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston first distilled whisky on land they'd leased for cattle grazing.
