Learn MoreG4 Añejo Tequila is the additive-free, agave-forward highland añejo from Felipe Camarena — the fourth-generation distiller whose family also gave the world Tapatío and El Tesoro. This is a tequila for the purist who wants oak and age without losing the taste of the agave.
Process & Profile
It is made at El Pandillo (NOM 1579) in Jesús María, in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, and aged a minimum of 18 months in ex-bourbon American oak. What makes El Pandillo unusual is the detail: agaves are slow-cooked for roughly 22 hours in stone ovens, crushed by a handmade metal tahona that Camarena nicknamed "Felipestein," and cut with a 50/50 blend of collected rainwater and spring water before double distillation in copper. The result is verified additive-free by Tequila Matchmaker and bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), 750 mL — restraint by design, so the barrel rounds the spirit off rather than burying it.
On the nose, cooked agave and vanilla come first, trailed by light oak and a lift of delicate white flowers.
On the palate, the agave and vanilla carry through, joined by mild black pepper, a soft floral edge, and a faint smokiness from the charred oak.
The finish is smooth and warm, staying agave-forward and clean to the last sip.
Where many añejos lean hard on the barrel to add sweetness, G4 uses just 18 months of oak to keep the highland agave character front and center — the same philosophy that made the Camarena name a benchmark for purists across the Tapatío and El Tesoro lineage. It sits comfortably beside far pricier extra-añejos while staying true to the agave.
Serve neat in a copita or tasting glass to let the florals open; it pairs well with grilled carne asada or a wedge of aged manchego.
