Doña Silvina Blend – Malbec & Aglianico

Region: Villa Seca, Maipú, Mendoza, Argentina
Blend: 70% Malbec / 30% Aglianico
Style: Organic & Biodynamic Red Blend
Oak Aging: Approximately 18 months in French oak barrels

Appearance

Deep, concentrated ruby-red to purple, with an almost opaque core. The wine displays excellent density in the glass, with rich violet reflections around the rim.

Nose

Expressive and layered, opening with ripe black plum, blackberry, dark cherry, and strawberry, followed by hints of pink grapefruit that add freshness. With air, deeper notes of dark chocolate, tobacco, dried herbs, vanilla, and subtle sweet spice emerge from the French oak aging.

Palate

Full-bodied yet remarkably balanced. The richness and naturally sweet, rounded tannins of Malbec provide a plush texture and generous dark-fruit character, while Aglianico contributes vibrant acidity, structure, and a savory edge. Flavors of ripe plum, blackberry, black cherry, cocoa, tobacco, and baking spice unfold across the palate, complemented by a subtle mineral and herbal character.

The lively acidity keeps the wine fresh despite its concentration, giving it both power and elegance.

Finish

Long, persistent, and structured. Dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, tobacco, spice, and a touch of savory earth linger alongside polished tannins and refreshing acidity.

Overall

Doña Silvina Blend is a distinctive Argentine red that combines the lush, fruit-driven character of Malbec with the firmer structure and bright acidity of Aglianico. Rich and silky without becoming heavy, it offers an appealing combination of ripe dark fruit, chocolate, spice, freshness, and well-integrated oak.

The unusual Malbec–Aglianico combination gives the wine considerably more freshness and structure than a typical Mendoza Malbec, making it both immediately enjoyable and well suited for further bottle aging.
