Process & Profile
Clase Azul releases a limited Día de Muertos edition each autumn. The five-year "Nuestros Recuerdos" series ran from Sabores in 2021 through Colores, Aromas, and Música to its final chapter, Recuerdos, in 2025, which blended tequilas aged 12 to 38 months in first-use American whiskey casks under Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco. Trascender opens the next chapter after that series. It is an añejo made from 100% Blue Weber agave and bottled in a 1-liter decanter handcrafted by Mexican artisans. Clase Azul has not yet published cask details, age breakdown, or ABV for this edition.
On the nose, it opens with cooked agave, caramel, vanilla, dried apricot, toasted oak, and warm baking spice.
On the palate, it is rich and rounded: roasted agave, caramelised sugar, ripe stone fruit, cinnamon, and mature oak.
The finish is long and warming, with agave sweetness, vanilla, and a dry thread of oak.
The decanter is the main reason to buy it. Each year's edition is designed as a standalone art object, and past Día de Muertos bottles have become some of the most sought-after pieces in the Clase Azul catalog. Trascender, meaning "to transcend," is the first design after the Nuestros Recuerdos series ended in 2025. Like every edition in the series, it is made in a limited run.
Serve neat in a copita or tequila glass at room temperature, sipped slowly. It goes well with a piece of pan de muerto.
