Angel's Envy America's 250th Anniversary Bourbon Single Barrel is a port-finished Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at a muscular 110 proof to mark the United States semiquincentennial (1776–2026) — a high-strength counterpoint to the standard 86.6-proof commemorative for the enthusiast who wants the release at full intensity.

Process & Profile

This expression comes from a program of twenty extended-finish barrels hand-selected by master distiller Owen Martin, each bottled individually at 110 proof (55% ABV). The whiskey is a wheated-recipe Kentucky bourbon finished in ruby port pipes — the signature that Lincoln Henderson built the brand around when he came out of retirement in 2010 to found Angel's Envy with his son Wes, having earlier created Woodford Reserve and Gentleman Jack during his decades at Brown-Forman. The name itself plays on the “angel's share,” the spirit lost to evaporation: what remains is the portion the angels envy.

On the nose, ripe black cherry, fig, maple, toasted pecan, and a thread of vanilla bean lifted by the higher proof.

On the palate, dense raisin and dark chocolate meet port-driven sweetness, cinnamon, orange zest, and a light tannic grip from the wine casks.

The finish is long and warming, closing on baking spice, dried cherry, and toasted oak.

Because every bottle is drawn from one barrel, no two are identical — the single-barrel format magnifies the port influence far beyond the widely available flagship, which is exactly what makes this anniversary run worth chasing.

Serve neat or over a single large cube in a Glencairn to let the port fruit open.
