Learn MoreCava de Oro Tequila Rose Gold takes blue agave through Napa Valley Pinot Noir barrels, which is where the pale rose blush in the glass comes from. It is the most food-friendly bottle in the Cava de Oro range.
Process & Profile
Produced at NOM 1477 in El Arenal, Jalisco, from 100% Blue Weber agave, then rested 60 days in French white oak barrels that previously held Pinot Noir from Napa Valley. Sixty days is short by design — long enough for the wine casks to lend fruit and a whisper of tannin, short enough that the agave stays in front. Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). The Partida family's preference for French oak and wine casks over ex-bourbon barrels runs through the whole line, but this release is the clearest statement of it.
On the nose, ripe strawberry, red currant, vanilla, and floral agave.
On the palate, red fruit, cocoa nib, baking spice, soft oak, and a herbaceous green note underneath.
The finish is smooth and lightly tannic, drying at the edges the way a light red does.
Wine-cask tequila is a crowded idea executed badly more often than not; the difference here is the short rest. Most releases in this style sit in wine wood long enough to taste like a hybrid. At 60 days this still tastes like tequila that visited a wine barrel, not the reverse.
Serve slightly chilled in a wine glass rather than a shot glass — the aromatics need room. Excellent with grilled shrimp or a citrus-marinated chicken.
