Read more about Angels Envy Bourbon
Angel's Envy did something almost no one else in Kentucky was doing when it launched: it finished its whiskey. Founded by the late master distiller Lincoln Henderson and his son Wes, the brand built its reputation on taking excellent bourbon and rye and giving each a second maturation in a hand-selected cask — port for the bourbon, rum for the rye — to add a layer of ripe-fruit richness you won't find in a standard pour. The result is a small, focused lineup that has become a modern Kentucky icon and a perennial gift favorite.
The flagship is Angel's Envy ($54.99), a Kentucky straight bourbon finished in ruby port wine casks. That finish lends notes of ripe berries, maple and vanilla over a classic bourbon backbone — smooth, approachable and beautifully balanced, whether you sip it neat or build it into a honey-kissed cocktail. Its rye sibling, Angel's Envy Rye ($78.99), is finished in Caribbean rum casks for a uniquely sweet, spicy character that has won over even dedicated rye skeptics. For collectors, the distillery also releases sought-after Cask Strength and Madeira-finished expressions when available.
Because both bottles carry that extra layer of fruit and sweetness, they shine in stirred and shaken drinks alike — the port-finished bourbon makes a luxurious Gold Rush, as our summer Gold Rush guide explains, while it's equally at home stirred into a Boulevardier or a classic Manhattan.
