Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve 2003 Edition

Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve 2003 Edition

Wild Turkey Distillery has introduced Russell’s Reserve 2003 Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey.

As with past vintages releases in this line, Russell’s Reserve 2003 was selected by Master Distiller Eddie Russell. This whiskey is a one-off, never to be repeated.

Aged for a minimum of 16 years inside the distillery’s Tyrone warehouses, this expression marks the last of Russell’s Reserve 107-barrel-entry-proof whiskey. The result is a whiskey reminiscent of Wild Turkey releases from the mid-1980s to early 1990s, the company says, with sweet baking spices, stone fruits and butterscotch flavors.

“Experiencing for the first time what would become our 2003 expression was one of those unforgettable moments of pure inspiration,” says Russell. “It’s one of our most complex bourbons, aged longer than most of our spirits, and speaks to what Russell’s Reserve is about — honoring our heritage.”

Bottled at barrel strength, 89.5 proof, Russell’s Reserve 2003 is a dark amber hue with aromas of charred and seasoned oak, the company reports, before additional flavors of bright spice with layers of confectioner’s sugar, burnt caramel, buttery vanilla and leather. On the smoky finish are oak and sweet notes of caramel and vanilla.
