Memorial Day 2026 Friday Final Call: The 3-Bottle Premium Rescue Kit (UPS 2-Day Air, Order Before 2 PM ET)
It's Friday, May 22. Memorial Day Monday is in 72 hours. If you were planning to send UPS Ground for Monday's cookout, that window closed yesterday for most ZIP codes — and we said as much in Thursday's Last-Call. So the math has changed: today's only realistic path to a Monday porch arrival is UPS 2-Day Air, in cart and paid for before 2 PM ET, on a bottle that's actually sitting in our New Jersey warehouse with positive inventory right now.
This guide is built around exactly three bottles. Not a 12-bottle assortment, not a maybe-list. Three SKUs we re-checked this morning, all priced at or above $90, all with double-digit inventory or better, all of them the kind of bottle that justifies the $35–$45 air-shipping uplift because no one wants to fly a $30 bourbon overnight. If you're spending the freight, spend it on a pour your guests will actually remember.
Why $90+ is the floor this morning
2-Day Air to most metros runs $32–$48 on a single 750ml. On a $40 bottle, that means shipping costs more than the contents — bad math, easy to regret. On a $95+ bottle, freight becomes roughly 30–40% of the spend, which is the same ratio you'd accept for any rush courier on something time-sensitive. The premium floor isn't snobbery; it's the cleanest way to make the air-freight number stop hurting.
For anyone who wants the under-$60 path: it's gone. The Ground window for Monday delivery from our Millburn, NJ warehouse closed on Wednesday for most ZIPs west of the Mississippi and yesterday for everywhere else. If you're in the NY/NJ/CT/PA/DE/MD/DC corridor, you may still have one Ground day left — check our earlier Last-Day-to-Order roundup for the under-$60 bottles. Everyone else: air, or wait.
The 3-bottle premium rescue kit
1. E.H. Taylor Jr. Small Batch — $94.99 (inv: 60)
The cleanest "premium without overpaying for premium" pick in our entire bourbon catalog right now. Bottled-in-bond at 100 proof, this is Buffalo Trace mash bill #1 — same DNA as Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare — but matured longer and bottled to BIB spec. The result is a bourbon that drinks like a $50 bottle with another decade of polish: caramel, dried orange peel, a long oaky finish that doesn't get bitter. Inventory is unusually deep right now (60 units) because we got an allocation this month, which means you're not gambling on a stock-out between now and your 2 PM cutoff. If the guest of honor is a bourbon drinker and you don't know what they have on their shelf, this is the answer.
For Monday pours: neat in a Glencairn, or as the base of an Old Fashioned if you want to stretch it (one 750ml pours roughly 14 cocktails). Browse the full lineup on the Bourbon collection.
2. Stagg Kentucky Straight Bourbon — $169.99 (inv: 25)
Stagg (the un-aged-statement version, formerly known as "Stagg Jr.") is hazmat-proof — 130+ proof, uncut, unfiltered — and it's the bottle bourbon nerds reach for when someone says "I want to taste what cask strength actually means." Dark fruit, leather, baking spice, a finish that lasts a full breath. At 25 units in stock this morning, this is the deepest Stagg position we've held all spring. If you're hosting a Monday gathering with anyone who orders bourbon at a steakhouse, this is the bottle that makes them stop talking mid-sentence.
Cocktail use: don't. This is a neat pour, or a single rock max. If you do mix, use it sparingly in an Old Fashioned with a teaspoon of demerara syrup — one 750ml of Stagg makes about 20 cocktails diluted properly. Stagg lives in the Allocated & Rare section of our store and it doesn't stay this deep for long.
3. Woodford Reserve Batch Proof 2024 Edition — $179.99 (inv: 4)
The "limited" lever in this kit. The 2024 Batch Proof release is a single-batch, uncut release at 124.4 proof from Woodford's Versailles distillery, and inventory is down to four bottles as of this morning's check. It's the most Kentucky-bourbon-tasting bottle in this kit — leather, dark cherry, baked cornbread, a long woody finish — and the proof gives it the kind of "this is special" weight you want on a holiday weekend pour. Versus Stagg: Stagg is fruitier and more aggressive; Batch Proof is drier, more oak-forward, more classically "Woodford." Either one is the right answer to "bring something nice." Buy both if you can't decide; one is for Monday, one goes in the cabinet for Father's Day. (See our Father's Day Bourbon Gift Guide Preview if you want to start that list now.)
Two upgrade paths if you want to spend more
If you're feeding a group of 8+ and one 750ml of premium isn't going to do it, two bundles solve that problem in a single SKU:
Buffalo Trace Master Bundle ($324.99, inv: 24) — a curated Buffalo Trace mash bill flight. The closest thing to "everything from one distillery in one box" that we offer; perfect when you want a tasting flight as the centerpiece of the cookout instead of one neat pour. Includes Buffalo Trace and the rest of the BT family at bundle pricing.
Stagg & Eagle Rare Bundle ($229.99, inv: 25) — a paired flight of cask-strength power (Stagg) and a 10-year age-stated pour (Eagle Rare). The clearest way to show a friend "this is what cask strength does versus standard proof" using two bottles from the same Buffalo Trace stable. Better unit economics than buying the bottles separately.
The 2-Day Air shipping math, plainly
Order in cart by 2:00 PM ET Friday May 22. UPS picks up from our Millburn, NJ warehouse at 4 PM. The package leaves Newark Liberty as an air freight on Friday evening, transits Saturday, and arrives Monday morning (Memorial Day is a UPS no-delivery holiday for Ground but 2-Day Air still moves to most metros — we'll flag any blackout ZIPs at checkout). If you miss the 2 PM ET cutoff: shipment moves to Tuesday pickup, Wednesday delivery. Bottle is still yours, but it's no longer a Memorial Day bottle — it's a Father's Day starter pour.
One housekeeping note
Adult-signature is required on every bottle we ship. Someone 21+ must be at the address when UPS arrives. If you're sending to a host's house for Monday, text them first — and remember Monday is the holiday, so the actual delivery for most ZIPs will be 8 AM–noon. If no one's home, UPS holds at the local access point and the package is fine, but it won't be on the porch when guests arrive.
If you only do one thing today
Put the E.H. Taylor Small Batch in cart, select UPS 2-Day Air, hit checkout. It's the lowest-regret bottle in this kit — deep inventory, unanimous-positive reviews, and the kind of bourbon that earns the freight charge whether you drink it Monday or save it for July 4. If you want to add a second SKU for a flight, Stagg is the high-impact pick. If you want the rarer pour, the four remaining Batch Proof 2024 bottles won't be there tomorrow.
Browse the rest of the in-stock premium bench in our Allocated & Rare collection, or check Best Sellers for what's moved the most this Memorial Day week. And if you need a cocktail plan to go with the bottle, the Memorial Day Grilling Pairing Matrix covers what to pour with which cut of meat.
Cart by 2 PM ET. Bottle on porch Monday. That's the entire plan.
