Cascahuín Reposado Tequila 84 Proof is a traditionally crafted, agave-forward reposado from El Arenal, Jalisco, where the Rosales family has produced tequila since 1904. Made from 100% Tequilana Weber Blue Agave grown in the Tequila Valley and rested for 6 to 8 months in well-seasoned American oak barrels, this expression preserves the bright character of cooked agave while adding delicate layers of honey, vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, and oak. The current U.S. bottling is presented at 42% ABV (84 proof) in a 750ml format.

Process & Profile

Cascahuín Reposado is produced at NOM 1123 in El Arenal, in the historic Tequila Valley of Jalisco. The distillery cooks its Blue Weber agave in traditional stone and brick masonry ovens, helping develop the rich cooked-agave sweetness that remains central to the finished tequila.

The cooked agave is extracted using a roller mill, followed by fermentation in a combination of stainless-steel and cement tanks. Cascahuín’s official production information specifies approximately 70% stainless-steel and 30% cement fermentation, without agave fibers, followed by double distillation using stainless-steel and copper equipment.

After distillation, the tequila rests for 6 to 8 months in American oak barrels that Cascahuín notes have already been used for tequila maturation for more than 20 years. Because these barrels are highly seasoned, they contribute gentle oak character rather than dominating the spirit, allowing cooked agave to remain the centerpiece.

The tequila displays a natural straw-yellow to golden hue drawn entirely from its time in oak. On the nose, the official profile emphasizes cooked agave, honey, vanilla, and dry earth, while additional tasting impressions reveal caramel, cinnamon, stone fruit, herbs, and light mineral character.

On the palate, sweet cooked agave arrives first, followed by light caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, butter, honey, and gentle baking spice. The barrel influence remains deliberately restrained, creating a reposado that feels creamy and rounded without losing Cascahuín’s earthy, mineral-driven Valley character.

The finish is long, silky, and agave-forward, with lingering honey, vanilla, cinnamon, light oak, earth, and warm pepper. The move to 84 proof adds greater concentration and texture while maintaining the balance and drinkability that define the core Cascahuín Reposado.

What makes Cascahuín Reposado Tequila 84 Proof especially compelling is its combination of traditional masonry-oven cooking, Tequila Valley agave, highly seasoned American oak, additive-free production, and a higher 42% ABV bottling strength. Rather than relying on heavy barrel sweetness, it uses oak to complement the cooked agave, giving the tequila richness while maintaining freshness, minerality, and authentic agave character.

Enjoy it neat to appreciate its balance of cooked agave and subtle barrel character, or over a large cube for a softer presentation. Its mix of agave, honey, vanilla, citrus, and spice also makes it an excellent choice for a premium Reposado Margarita, Paloma, or Tequila Old Fashioned.
