Learn MoreRoland Tissier & Fils “Les Genêts” Sancerre is a crisp, elegant Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc from the historic appellation of Sancerre. The current 2025 vintage is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grown on limestone-clay soils from vines averaging around 30 years old. Bright citrus, white flowers, fresh herbs, and mineral notes define a classic Sancerre profile with lively acidity, a clean texture, and a refreshing, persistent finish.
Domaine Roland Tissier & Fils is based in Sancerre in the Cher department of France’s Loire Valley. The Tissier family has grown wine for three generations, farming approximately 11 hectares, around 80% planted to Sauvignon Blanc and 20% to Pinot Noir. Roland Tissier consolidated the family vineyards in 1972, and today the domaine is led by his sons Rodolphe and Florent Tissier.
Les Genêts is produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, with current retail information identifying vines averaging approximately 30 years old on limestone-clay soils. The domaine’s classic white Sancerre vineyards also span clay-limestone, limestone, and flint terroirs, allowing the wines to combine ripe citrus and floral character with the mineral freshness associated with Sancerre.
The domaine’s classic Sauvignon Blanc vinification emphasizes freshness and purity. Grapes are gently pressed, followed by settling and cool fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. The wines mature on their fine lees, with bâtonnage used selectively depending on the vintage to add subtle texture while retaining bright acidity and varietal character.
In the glass, Les Genêts offers an expressive bouquet of lemon, grapefruit, fresh citrus, and white flowers, accompanied by subtle herbal and mineral notes. The aromatic style is clean and lifted rather than tropical or heavily ripe.
The palate is dry, light-bodied, and crisp, with vibrant citrus fruit supported by high natural acidity. Grapefruit and lemon lead into white floral notes, fresh herbs, and a chalky mineral character that keeps the wine focused and refreshing.
The finish is clean and persistent, leaving lingering citrus zest, white flowers, subtle herbs, and mineral freshness. Its combination of bright acidity and restrained fruit makes it an especially versatile food wine.
What makes Roland Tissier & Fils Les Genêts Sancerre particularly appealing is its combination of mature Sauvignon Blanc vines, limestone-rich Sancerre terroir, generations of family winegrowing, and a classic fresh, mineral-driven style. It delivers the precision and drinkability expected from traditional Sancerre without excessive oak or richness.
Serve well chilled at approximately 10–12°C / 50–54°F. It pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, sushi, roast chicken, light appetizers, salads, and Crottin de Chavignol goat cheese.
