Learn MoreFrom winemaker Rui Roboredo Madeira, Beyra Reserva Tinto showcases the high-altitude Beira Interior region of Portugal with a dry red blend led by Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) alongside Touriga Nacional. Black cherry, plum and berry fruit meet a discreet minerality, gentle spice and subtle vanilla and toast from barrel aging, all carried to a fresh, lingering finish. Recent vintages have earned 90+ points from Wine Spectator, making this an exceptional value to pour with roast beef, lamb, Iberian ham or a board of good cheeses.
Beyra Reserva Tinto is a dry red from winemaker Rui Roboredo Madeira, made in the high-altitude Beira Interior region of Portugal. The blend is led by Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), with Touriga Nacional and Jaen (Mencía) in support, though the proportions change from vintage to vintage. The wine spends about six months in wood, which adds subtle structure and warmth while the fruit stays at the center. It is typically around 13% ABV; check the label for the specific vintage.
Ripe berries and plum lead, joined by gentle spice, vanilla and a hint of toast. Darker notes of cocoa, leather and tobacco come up as the wine opens.
Round black fruit fills the palate, including black cherry, black raspberry and fig. Dried herbs and oak spice add interest, and fine, chalky tannins keep it composed. An elegant, understated minerality holds the fruit and barrel character in balance.
The finish is fresh and long, with lingering notes of violet, bay leaf, Earl Grey and anise.
Beyra Reserva Tinto earns critical praise well above its price. The 2023 vintage received 91 points from both Wine Spectator and Decanter, along with a Silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2025, and the 2022 vintage scored 90 points from Wine Spectator. It's a dependable, characterful introduction to the reds of Portugal's interior, and recent vintages can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years.
Serve slightly below room temperature, around 60–64°F. A short decant or some time in the glass will let the aromatics open. It pairs naturally with roast beef, lamb, game, Iberian ham and aged cheeses, which makes it a versatile choice for both weeknight dinners and gatherings.
