Read more about Lost Lore Tequila
Lost Lore is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila made at the Vivanco family distillery in Jalisco, Mexico (NOM 1414). The tequila is certified additive-free, which means nothing is added to change its color, sweetness or aroma, and what you taste is the agave and the oak. This collection gathers the three Lost Lore expressions we stock: a blanco, a reposado and an añejo, so you can compare how time in the barrel changes the same tequila.
The Lost Lore lineup
Lost Lore Tequila Blanco ($49.99) is made from agave slow-cooked in brick ovens, fermented with Champagne yeast and twice distilled in copper pots, then bottled at 40% ABV. It is bright and clean, with cooked agave, citrus and a little black pepper, and it is the one to use in a margarita or a Paloma, or to sip neat if you like an unaged tequila.
Lost Lore Tequila Reposado ($59.99) is aged for at least six months in American oak. The oak adds a golden color and notes of caramel, vanilla and warm spice over the agave, and the texture is soft, so it is a good bridge between a blanco and an añejo. It works neat, over ice or in an Old Fashioned.
Lost Lore Tequila Añejo ($79.99) is aged up to 36 months in seasoned whiskey barrels. It is the richest of the three, with cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, oak and baking spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, and it is best sipped neat or with a single large cube.
Which one should you buy?
Choose the blanco if you mostly make cocktails, the reposado if you want one bottle that works both neat and mixed, and the añejo if you usually drink whiskey and want a tequila with similar depth. If you are weighing it against other bottles in the same range, our best reposado tequila under $50 guide covers the value end of the category, and our añejo buyer’s guide compares the older styles.
