The Deleon range

Deleon Blanco Tequila ($49.99) is the unaged style, bottled without time in oak so the agave character leads. It is the one to use for a margarita, a Paloma or a ranch water, and it also works as a clean sipper. Deleon Reposado Tequila ($41.99) has been rested in oak, which, under Mexican rules, means between two months and a year, and that rest adds softness and gentle vanilla. It is the most flexible bottle for both cocktails and sipping. Deleon Añejo Tequila ($54.99) is aged longer, between one and three years, and it is the richest of the three, with more oak, caramel and spice. Pour it neat in a small glass.

How to choose between them

If you mostly make cocktails, start with the blanco. If you want one bottle that does a bit of everything, choose the reposado. Ways to drink Deleon

For a classic margarita, shake two ounces of blanco with one ounce of fresh lime juice and half an ounce of agave syrup, then strain over ice with a salted rim. For a tequila Old Fashioned, stir two ounces of reposado or añejo with a teaspoon of agave syrup and two dashes of bitters over a large cube. Both are easy at home, and both make good use of the bottles in this collection.
