Read more about Bianchi Wine
Bianchi is a winery from Mendoza, Argentina, and the three Particular bottles in this collection show how far the country's red wine goes beyond a single grape. Whether you came for Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon or the less common Cabernet Franc, each bottle is a full-bodied red priced well under what a comparable California bottle would cost.
What is in the Bianchi collection
Bianchi Particular Malbec ($19.99) is the entry point. It is made from the historic Asti Estate in San Rafael, with ripe plum, spice, vanilla and dark chocolate, plus a smoky note from French oak aging. It is rich and full bodied, with sweet but persistent tannins and balanced acidity. If you are new to Argentine wine, start here, and read our guide to Malbec beyond Mendoza for the bigger picture.
Bianchi Particular Cabernet Sauvignon ($22.99) is 100% Cabernet from the Uco Valley and San Rafael regions of Mendoza. Expect dark fruit with black pepper and red bell pepper, mineral notes, and vanilla and chocolate from French oak aging. It is a good pick for steak, and it is a useful counterpoint to the California bottles in our Cabernet by region guide.
Bianchi Particular Cabernet Franc ($31.09) is the most unusual of the three: deep red with violet tones, black currant, cassis and sweet spice, with velvety tannins and a rich, meaty character. Cabernet Franc is the grape that is easiest to overlook and easiest to love once you try it.
How to choose
For a weeknight burger, grab the Malbec. For a steak dinner, the Cabernet Sauvignon. For roasted meats or a cheese board, the Cabernet Franc. All three keep well for a few days after opening if you re-cork them and store them in a cool place, and all are best served around 60 to 65 degrees.
