Out of a 1920s era field blend block has risen a legacy of richly aromatic Petite Syrahs, voluptuous in the mouth, central to Stags’ Leaps’ commitment to Rhône varietals.In a way, the heritage vines have been the winery’s coach in learning how Petite Syrah likes to be made into wine. "Petite Syrah craves the company of other Rhône varietals,” says winemaker Kevin Morrisey. "She blossoms in their presence. The flavors, structure, and elegance express themselves with greater intensity and purity from the soft touch of cross-blending.” The winery’s long association with prime Petite Syrah growers in the Napa Valley has resulted in an optimum choice of fruit every season.
